I guess it was the Grand Orient after all.

The murder of Helric Fredou left me confused. How could a foreign organisation declare a murder suicide? And what motive would a French organisation have to commit the Charlie Hebdo massacre?

Looking back I feel a little stupid, for the answer follows from these points I already made.

1. The Catholic Church was behind the French Revolution, so the Catholic Church is behind the Grand Orient as well.
2. When the English crown found out, it took control of English masonry.
3. Masons are not interested in immediate results, but in establishing a narrative for later use.
4. Secretive actors signal their activities to each other so that they would know enough of their activities to cooperate with each other on some future occasion.

But then, if the Grand Orient is essentially Jesuit, it makes perfect sense for the Grand Orient to prepare France for a later alignment with the eighth king, and the Charlie Hebdo massacre is part of the background for that.
