Every formula sign in mathematics stands for a relation in which we conceive of the objects it connects, like 3+4 means 4 besides 3 and 3*4 means 3 groups of 4, and the reason, why mechanics are most readily described by it, is that the relations that are fundamental to our understanding are, for the most part, fundamental to our understanding of mechanics.
