The commandments of an I
- Safeguard what is dear
- Against all odds
- Don't spare yourself
- Keep your head up high
- Know your place
- Don't let yourself go
Van Vogt's perspective, Tolkien's imagination.
There's arguably a correspondence with the six lesser spells in The Book of Ptath, namely
- Signing L'onee's death warrant calls on Ptath to safeguard what is dear.
- Experiencing the power flow of a prayer stick calls on Ptath to try against all odds (i.e. wait for women to pray to him).
- Crossing the river of boiling mud calls on Ptath to not spare himself (considering the necessary preparations for it).
- Making love to Ineznia calls on Ptath to keep his head up high.
- Coming with Ineznia on a journey of minds calls on Ptath to know his place (i.e. realize Ineznia's power).
- Going consciously through the realm of darkness calls on Ptath to not let himself go (witnessing how Ineznia controlled L'onee).
