Some more thoughts on the fifth vial
I shall complete the previous post. First, let me point out that Bush was selling an empty promise and then that promise was spoiled. Also, people died because of this false grandeur. Then Obama claimed that certain standards wouldn't really be necessary, for which he was opposed. Also, people died because of this reckless remodelling.
Trump is just being an ugly egoist. Essentially what happened is this: Part of the American public had hopes along Bush's line, then Bush smashed them. Part of the American public had hopes along Obama's line and then Obama smashed them, after which the American public became cautious about hopes in general.
So first we had a competition between hopes. Now Trump rules out of a desire for common sense. And the current opposition to that is to demand higher standards, that is first Americans thought that they can do stuff, now they think that they shouldn't bother too much about stuff and the opposition to that is that they must do stuff.
The fifth vial describes a darkening and the biting of tongues. Who is thus punished? He, who thinks himself bright and uses his tongue to demand. And this spirit is already manifest in the political landscape of the United States. This spirit must have a public mandate and it must have political weight. The easiest way to achieve that is on the state level. Then the spirit is sufficiently manifest to be smitten. But that is not enough. People must die because of its insolence.
And I thought about this for hours and couldn't see how. Yet it is so simple. Again, it won't be Americans who will die. It will be America's allies, who'll come under attack, because America seems paralysed. Most likely the Taiwanese. First people died because of delusions of grandeur, then because of moral relativism and finally because of insubordination. All of it is the moral responsibility of the American people.
Now, this is just the likely turn of events, in my eyes, the solution to the puzzle, the fitting together of the pieces, I'm not claiming any prophecy in this apart from the relation between the spirits and their punishments.
I had asked myself, whether it could be evil to be this specific. But the above scenario isn't one that relies on the particular evilness of any one of the actors involved. And neither does it rely on evil guidance. It is a natural scenario, which follows almost automatically from the dynamics of political debate. So I'm not giving anybody ideas.
