The use of understanding metaphysics

The use of understanding metaphysics is not to acquire the power to perform transcendent acts, but to recognise the spiritual climate in which a particular prayer will be heard.

Think of the man who does not understand metaphysics as the man who shivers. Shivering is a detrimental physical response that does absolutely no good. If you can control your spirit, concentration alone will keep your body warmer than shivering. If you understand the spiritual climate, your prayer will help you.
