Déjà vus

I was watching My Dinner with Andre, in my opinion an attempt by Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn to recreate the flair of Dostoevsky's Idiot as the bait in a fishing expedition for 20 year old females of the species, and was struck by the monumental display of stupidity by Wally when he started opining on omens.

Now, whether you believe it or not, conceptually it's very simple: We know the future, but we suppress that knowledge. But when we come across something that pertains to that knowledge, an impression, a notion of it is awakened. And likewise, when we have a déjà vu, although often it's simply that we've really already been in a similar situation, if only in a dream, in the moment of its occurrence we get a fleeting glimpse of our suppression of our knowledge of it.

I have described revelation as it happened to me as being taken over by a more powerful mind, which is very frightening, and that clearly demonstrates that we are naturally inclined to suppress parts of what we could be conscious of, if we would not suppress it. It is not clear at all, what the basis of our hunches is, but it is clear that our hunches have a basis; at least to me.

Obviously, any real spirituality is ever more frequently described as a mental disease, but it's the ground on which we must travel, even when we for most of the time prefer not to look at it.
