The trilemma of freedom, wealth and culture

Theorem. In a free society wealth and culture are mutually exclusive.

Proof. Nobody wants to be old, so everybody will avoid the life of the old, if it can be afforded. But it is the resignation of old age that causes the reflection that lets a person understand the role of culture as a tool to help with the general quality of life. And it is this insight that makes a person unselfish and tender enough to teach the culture to the young in a way that sees their nature not as an enemy to be overcome, but as a friend to be helped.

Corollary. If a free society is successful, it reverts to natural customs.
