New Year at simultaneous nightfall or daybreak?

I was wondering whether anybody could have set January 1st as the start of the year, because at that point the sun sets or rises simultaneously along his coastline. Well, some could have.

The sun rises simultaneously on December 31st along the east coast of the U.S.,

on January 1st along the east and west coast of the southern island of New Zealand

along the east coast of India, while simultaneously setting on December 31st on its west coast and along the east and west coast of the Red Sea,

and along the east coast of southern Africa, while aimultaneously setting on its west coast on December 31st.

Given the historical context, it could have of course only been the Egyptians, whose considerations might have influenced this, but it doesn't seem likely, just a bunch of coincidental reasons for something that has other ones. This kind of thing happens of course all the time with revisions, alien political sentiments are not easily understood, a person's feelings maybe, the relations of dozens of myriads, no.
