Postponed coalescence

Compared with Europeans, Americans are significantly less defined in terms of acceptable behaviour, that is to say in depth, rather than on the surface. Social relations are seen as a technical issue, not as an expression of one's belief. One's belief is presumed to find expression in one's contribution, that is to say in a deliberate addition, rather than in one's general conduct.

This state of affairs is only logical, considering the varying backgrounds of Americans, but it has two consequences, namely
  1. the longing for further coalescence of belief and
  2. that Americans have to assume that the generic American is a rogue.
And this then is the long joke of American history:
That a rogue system can only be held accountable at gunpoint.
Barring an extraordinary stroke of good luck that situation can only be resolved in two ways:
  1. either the rogue system becomes unaccountable,
  2. or the sword ends the rule of the sword while achieving greater coalescence.
