One advice for women gleaned from the life of Ingrid Bergman

I was right, I didn't have the facts, I could have had them, mind you, just my laziness, but my reading was correct nonetheless: Ingrid Bergman's husband was a medical doctor and Rossellini had criticised social darwinism only a year before her adultery. It was an entirely ideological matter.

If you find my argumentation incomplete, you probably haven't noticed yet that people always dream of a world that doesn't require their profession. So lawyers are always fond of the law of claw, horn and fang and medical doctors are always fond of eugenics. When you have a person like Jürgen Rieger, who was a lawyer and his uncle was a medical doctor, you shouldn't be surprised to find out he's in charge of the local national socialist organisation.

Well, there are still plenty of lawyers and medical doctors around. So many of their wives will still have the same problem that Ingrid Bergman had, so that the advice I'm going to give here is a practical and not an academic one:

Woman, when your man is wrong, be assured that God will show him.
Don't take matters into your own hands.
