The passing of the Macronites
Much to my horror I have realised that Macron is not a singular occurrence, but that there is a whole generation of functional elites, clergymen, lawyers and so on, who are exactly like Macron, that is detached from all tradition and common sentiment, entertaining concepts as in entertainment, looking to the rest of the populace like the subjects of John Carpenter's They Live.
What then does their occurrence mean?
Well, firstly, they'll implement any policy, because there is no natural resistance against any policy in them. Secondly, they'll fear any government that is connected to its populace, for it would see no use in them. And thirdly, when the feeble authority that had justified them will fall, they'll all be blown like leaves in autumn from their places.
The Macronites have come to seek refuge in the illusionary, implement it and then disband after its fall, ushering in a period of anarchy. And like with Macron himself, it will not be about any one thing that a finger could be put upon, but a state of mind that is incapable of taking root.
Although I feel no pity for Macron himself, I do pity the Macronites.
