The signs of the emergence of a stage

Whenever a new stage is erected sorcerer's apprentices are looking up to it hoping to look down from it and amateur actors come down from on high to get their feet wet feeling a bit silly, but humouring the show for the good of the effort and timid souls assemble around it, conceiving that finally someone has come to talk to them.

Is any of that good? If you don't like the show, it's grotesque, and if you like it, embarrassing. In any case it's dangerous when people become spellbound.
