Relying on evidence instead of understanding for once.

I've posted this song already two posts ago, but I'll do it again: Ray Stevens' Everything is beautiful from 1970.

I like the message, to seek God's guidance within and to trust it without. But that's not why I posted it. I posted it because of the way Ray Stevens addresses the audience, namely as equals in this brotherhood of believers. I can relate to that, it's a social contract that I can sign and act upon, something I get and that I can deal with. The horrible thing is, I don't meet anybody anymore who agrees on this. It used to be the standard, but these days I only meet psychopaths, toddlers and kindergarten teachers.

Hence a rather prescient song by Jefferson Starship: I came back from the jaws of the dragon from 1982.

I came back from the jaws of The dragon.
I came back to your heart again.
I came back from the jaws of The dragon.
I came back to your dream again.
Maybe for the first time, it won't be the last time.
I came back to your heart again.
I came back through the jaws of The dragon.
I came back to tell you where I've been.
If I was Sandanista, ohh, I would assassinate somebody
who abused, abused, abused his mighty, mighty privilege.
But then somebody would assassinate me
for abusing my mighty, mighty privilege.
Can't spend the time on the holes.

Can't spend the time on the holes.
Got to eat your donut and forget about the holes.
Don't forget or you might fall in.

Don't forget or you might fall in.
You got to concentrate, concentrate, concentrate.
I'm over the line.
Over the line. Yes I am.
Over the line. You and me.
Over the line.
Don't feel so badly about current anxiety
about your frustrations, emotional uncertainty.
That's the way you're supposed to feel.
That's the way they want you to feel.
Dissatisfaction, dissatisfaction,
massive demoralization, family unit breakdown.
You're supposed to believe that war is imminent
that crime soars and chaos prevails.
Then they give you a moment of sweet, sweet peace
and you become so happy you don't send them to jail.

[Grace Wing] Why not?
I'm over the line.
Over the line. Yes I am.
Over the line. Here we go.
Over the line.

I'm over the line.
Over the line.
Over the line. O.k.
Over the line.

Over the line. Already you.
Over the line. You and me.
Over the line. Just like me.
Over the line.
What good is it to achieve this? And how did they know? Anyway, these days' music perpetually whines about emotional uncertainties and so on* - and I'll not link to it or even embed it here. It's bad, folks, bad. It's sick. You think it benefits you to wipe your ass with decent people while breeding psychopaths? So, what's the idea? Pliable servants and a soft pillow to rest your head on? While the managerial class discusses what to do with all the human trash?

Yeah, well, you are no humanists, no democrats, republicans, perhaps, of a republic of evil, but last it will not, like all its works. You're creating circumstances that can't be disguised, for how do you disguise open contempt? And then, after the necessary adjustment, what do you think you will reap?

* whereas Supertramp helps you understand those uncertainties and thus overcome them.
