How friendly a soul is can best be assessed by seeing how easily it takes to slander: While there are people whose wit is for imputing only, there are others who feel genuinely sad, when they intrude on the counsel of defamers and quietly turn away, and when the streets openly bustle with excitement over the latest angle to undermine some peoples' dignity, they follow their own counsel.
