The answers to hardship and sin

Misery is either sin, when its cause is human, or hardship else, and sin is either tragedy, when it's regretted, or depravity else, assuming that the case is settled and enough information has come to light in order to judge it.

The answers to hardship and sin are then given by the following table.

tragedy hardship depravity
toughness x x x
prayer (for the
sinner, where
applicable)
x x
forgiveness x

In the case of misery caused by depravity one may treat it as hardship, i.e. consider the perpetrators non-human, which is not to say that they are then necessarily cursed, except when they have to be destroyed in order to escape the misery.
